We're Hiring!

Join Our Team

Part-time Mill Operator:

Fiber Farm Mill (Centerville, TN) is a small, family-run fiber mill that transforms raw fleece from fiber animals into high-quality yarn and felted products. We are hiring a reliable part-time employee to help with day-to-day fiber processing operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receive, inspect, weigh, and properly store incoming raw fiber (wool, alpaca, and other animal fleeces)
  • Assist with tumbling, washing (using eco-friendly methods and spring water), drying, picking, and dehairing to prepare fiber
  • Operate or help run mill equipment including the carder (to produce roving or batting), drafter, spinner, plyer, steamer, and wet felter
  • Help produce custom yarns in various weights (from fine to bulky) and non-spun items such as felted sheets for rugs, coasters, trivets, and other products
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow detailed processes to ensure high-quality output while handling natural fibers with care
  • Occasionally assist with customer orders, inventory, or light administrative tasks

This is a hands-on, physical role in a production environment. Training will be provided, but comfort working with machinery, standing for periods, and handling raw/natural materials is important. Hours are flexible and part-time (likely 15–25 hours per week, depending on workload).

Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, enjoy working with their hands, and have an appreciation for fiber arts, farming, or small-batch production. No prior mill experience required — a positive attitude and willingness to learn go a long way!
